Funds raised will go to the campaign to prevent the federal government imposing a nuclear waste dump on unwilling communities.
The federal government wants to build a nuclear waste dump on the Muckaty Land Trust in the Northern Territory. For the last seven years, they have been campaigning to keep the waste off their land. The nuclear industry has a disproportionate affect on Indigenous and impoverished communities. There is no scientific basis for building a waste dump at Muckaty, it is purely political.
A federal court trial brought by the Muckaty Traditional Owners to challenge the nomination of Muckaty will be heard through June, with hearings in Melbourne from the 2nd June and in Tennant Creek from the 9th – 17th of June.
